Shields Health Care is utilizing server virtualization technologies to consolidate space, resources, management and environmental aspects such as cooling and power usage. As a result of this virtual strategy, Shields recently reduced the total number of servers needed to operate the company by more than two-thirds. This cutting edge technology allows Shields to grow without adding new machines which would have consumed more energy and emitted more heat.

“Going Green” is not just about cleaner emissions and hybrid vehicles, it is about reducing our energy dependence in a variety of areas. This is just one small way that Shields, through its data center operations, can give back to the environment and manage energy consumption.
