EMR Integration
Shields is actively working to integrate radiology results into physician office electronic medical records systems (EMR) as part of an effort to share results electronically and expedite patient care.
At present, Shields Information Technology has completed more than 30 interfaces to hospital information systems, practice EMRs and Picture Archive and Communication Systems (PACS).
A few examples of high volume interfaces include: UMass Medical Center, Health Alliance, Baystate Medical Center, Franklin Medical Center, Mary Lane Hospital, New England Baptist Hospital, Marlborough Hospital, Lahey Clinic, and Southcoast Hospitals Group. A few examples of physician practice EMR integration include: Angels Neurology, Newton Wellesley Orthopedics Associates, and Harbor Medical Associates.
EMR interfacing is a major initiative for Shields and we believe that we need to work with physicians to provide results when and where they want them.
As such, Shields employees a team of Health Level 7 programmers to accomplish this mission. Connected health information will lead to better, more efficient care and doesn’t have to be a difficult process. Shields Information Technology wants to take the burden away from the physician practice and will work directly with the EMR vendor to achieve success.
