Patient Preparation
A radiopharmaceutical injection, which contains a radioactive tracer, is standard for PET/CT exams. For most studies, you will have to wait for the radiopharmaceutical to distribute itself - typically 50 minutes to an hour. Patients will be asked to sit in a quiet, dimly lit room in which to relax while they wait.
