PET/CT Safety

A PET/CT study is similar to many other diagnostic procedures. Although the radiation itself is different, it is roughly equivalent to what you would receive from other diagnostic imaging exams such as CT or two chest X-rays.

Radio pharmaceuticals used in PET/CT do not remain in your system long. So there is no reason to avoid interacting with other people once you have left the exam. However you might want to be extra careful by waiting a few hours before getting close to an infant or anyone who is pregnant.
