PET/CT

PET/CT (Positron Emission Tomography) scanning reflects our longstanding tradition of bringing groundbreaking technology to New England.

PET/CT scanning produces highly detailed images of the body's metabolic functions. The PET/CT scanner is highly sensitive to functional changes in the body and helps diagnose abnormalities much more accurately than any other available technology.  In addition, the patient benefits from a reduction in diagnosis and treatment time - in a situation where time is of the essence.

PET/CT imaging is available through partnerships between Shields Health Care Group and several prominent health care facilities.  It is now available at Shields centers in Springfield, in partnership with Baystate Health; in Worcester and Fitchburg, in partnership with UMass Memorial Health Care; in Weymouth, in partnership with South Shore Hospital, and in Harwich and Sandwich in partnership with Cape Cod Hospital.
