Common Uses for MRI
Detailed MR images allow physicians to better evaluate parts of the body and certain diseases that may not be diagnosed as accurately with other imaging methods.
While there are a range of uses for MRI, the two most common categories at Shields are neurological and orthopedic. Neurological scans such as of the brain and help assess the effects of stroke, trauma or disease. Orthopedic scans often help answer questions about injuries and degeneration involving knees, shoulders, feet and ankles.
