Co-Pays

Many Insurance plans have introduced co-pays for MRI, PET/CT, and CT services.  During the pre-scan process, we work closely with our patients to identify any co-pay amounts.  Because of our excellent reputation and imaging expertise, Shields Health Care co-pays are less then most other imaging providers.  Typically, co-pay amounts will vary between $50 and $150, dependent on your insurance coverage.

We respectfully request that co-pays are collected the day of your scan.  We accept personal checks, cash, or any major credit card, including Health Savings Account (HSA) credit cards.

Deductibles

An increasing number of Shields Health Care patients are enrolled in high-deductible plans with their insurance company.  High-deductible plans require the patient to pay out-of-pocket until a certain deductible is met.  Most high-deductible plans carry a $1,200 deductible for individual coverage, or a $2,400 deductible for family coverage.  A patient's out-of-pocket expense will vary depending on the exact deductible balance at the time the claim is submitted for payment to the insurance company.

Patients can expect to receive a balance statement promptly after their insurance has settled the claim.  Payment can be made by check or major credit card, including Health Savings Account (HSA) credit cards.

Co-Insurance

Many of our patients have co-insurance obligations, including much of our Medicare population. Co-insurance coverage is defined when a percentage of a patients bill is paid by the insurance company and the remaining percentage is paid by the patient.  Typical examples are 90/10, 80/20,or 70/30.  During the pre-scan process, we work closely with our patients to identify any co-insurance amounts so you better understand any out-of-pocket obligations.

Patients can expect to receive a balance statement promptly after their insurance has settled the claim.  Payment can be made by check or major credit card, including Health Savings Account (HSA) credit cards.
