Your First Visit

Patients arriving at their first appointment will be greeted and interviewed by one of our oncology nurses, who will gather historical and current health information and register the patient. Following introductions, patients will meet with their radiation oncologist to develop a specific treatment plan. Together the patient, nurse and oncologist will discuss the patient’s diagnosis, prognosis and treatment options before a plan and timeline are finalized. A first visit will likely take between 1 ½ - 2 hours. Please refer to the checklist below to help organize the administrative requirements of this first visit.

Finally, we encourage all patients to call with any questions that might help them proceed more comfortably, and to bring a family member or friend who may provide assistance or comfort while patients are introduced to the facts and projections of their radiation treatment.
