Managers
The Management team organizes and maintains the overall flow of the centers to ensure communication between each department involved in your care including medical secretaries, nursing, physics, radiation therapy, the radiation oncologist, billing and your referring physicians.
From the moment that your physician refers you to our center you are a part of our family. Our goal is to ensure that every step of your radiation treatment is handled professionally and efficiently by each person and department.

Andrea joined Shields Health Care Group in 1991 as a file clerk in Brockton, MA. She went on to pursue her B.S. degree at Suffolk University. Upon her return in 1999, Andrea worked in the Front Office at Shields MRI, Weymouth and then as Office Manager at Shields MRI & CT of Rhode Island in 2001.
In 2007, Andrea transferred to SSOC as Center Manager, and oversees operations at the Quincy and Mansfield oncology centers. She is a welcome addition to Oncology Services. |

Karyn Ferreira, Reimbursement Manager for Oncology Services
Karyn has over 6 years of experience in healthcare reimbursement. Karyn joined the Shields organization in 2000 and within two years was promoted to Assistant Manager of the Scheduling and Insurance Verification Unit.
In 2007 she transitioned to the Oncology Department in the role of Oncology Reimbursement Manager. Karyn's responsibilities include training and management of the Oncology Reimbursement Staff and general oversight of all areas of billing and collections for the Shields Oncology Centers. |

Kristin comes to us from Dana-Farber Cancer Institute where she has gained over 8 years experience in a variety of oncology roles which include: Woman’s Cancers, Radiation Oncology, and Surgery.
In 2005 Kristin received the Partners in Excellence Award for Patient Care and Service therefore, bringing to us her driven commitment to medical ethics and patient care.
Kristin is now Center Manager at our new Winchester Hospital Radiation Oncology Center.
Kristin is actively involved with the Making Strides walk and the Pan Mass Challenge. |

Holly Tavares, Business Manager, Cape Cod Healthcare Cancer Services, Falmouth, MA
Holly Tavares has over 13 years of experience in operational healthcare. She began her career in 1999 with Shields Health Care Group as a Patient Access Representative at our Brockton, MA Support Center. In 2001 she transferred to our Rhode Island Hospital MRI/CT center where she worked as a Clinical Secretary/Tech Aide. Within a few short years she was promoted to Lead Clinical Secretary and in 2006 was promoted to Operations Manager of the Rhode Island Hospital site. Then in 2009 she took on additional responsibility by overseeing the Shields MRI center at St Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford, MA.
In addition to being the Operations Manager Holly has served as a member of the SHCG Quality Assurance Committee was instrumental in the company wide implementation of a new Radiation Information Server system and most recently participated in an innovation Lab headed by The Sloan Center on Aging of Boston College. Holly has become a Certified Six Sigma Green Belt in order to bring forth companywide operational performance improvements.
In January of 2011 Holly was promoted to the Business Manager of the Clark Cancer Center. The Clark Cancer Center opened their doors on February 22nd.
